Vinyl sounds superior to CD's when played on a nice turntable so don't be biased against it...it's great. I believe this section is fairly complete although I'm sure there are more European promotional releases I may not yet know about.   If you have or know of any vinyl releases not presented here, please contact me with the information and I'll add it when time permits. 	Metal Magic
Label	Metal Magic Records - MMR1283 - USA - 1983

Comments	Metal Magic, Pantera first LP release is a self pressed item and is very limited. The Abbott brothers along with family member (father ?) Jerry Abbott, started the label Metal Magic. This release features the original vocalist Terry Lee and , although pretty lame overall, features some great guitar work by  Dimebag. The original singer's voice and pop metal style adopted on the album make it pretty painful although each successive Pantera release would prove to grow closer to the Pantera we all know and love today. Expect to pay 75 - 100 dollars for this item if you can locate it and make sure it comes with the original fan club insert with merchandise offer. I'll provide a picture of the insert soon.

	Projects In The Jungle

Comments	Projects In The Jungle, Pantera's second private release is , as is the case with all the other earlier  pressings, very rare and difficult to locate. The band continues down the pop-metal path at this point  with the second release showing just a bit more aggression. As expected Dimebag's playing is the  focal point of the LP and he provides some great fret board action. The album still reeks of pop-metal  although its great to hear some of the earlier material. The LP features the same line up as before  with original vocalist Terrence Lee . Cover art on this LP is the worst of any of the albums with some  bizarre interpretation of the song Projects In The Jungle. LP also comes with merchandise /fan club      insert. Expect to pay 75 - 100 for this one as well.

Comments	This unusual item is the rarest Pantera piece I've found yet. It's a colored vinyl test pressing for the LP "Projects In The Jungle". I was unsure of its authenticity. I asked Dimebag at a local record store     signing and he was amazed to learn that I had one. Supposedly limited to less than 10 copies  although I've been told rumors that other colors exist. Anyone have info ???

	I Am The Night

Comments	I Am The Night, Pantera's third private release is , as is the case with all the other earlier pressings, very rare and difficult to locate. The band finally starts to show so major movement towards a heavier more aggressive sound on certain tracks. This is definitely the best LP with Terrance Lee. The band is obviously doing better at this point as the production quality on the LP is a bit nicer than the prior two  releases and the artwork is even bearable. Front insert included with some great black n white photos  and contains the Fan Club insert now professionally printed. This will be Pantera's last LP with  Terrence. Expect to pay 50 - 75 dollars for this piece if you can find one.

	Power Metal

Comments	Power Metal, Pantera's final release on Metal Magic and first with new vocalist Philip Anselmo shows a major turning point for the band. For some unknown reason, this release took three years to release unlike the prior 1 album per year. I suppose this was a time when the band decided Terrence wasn't the vocalist they needed and were probably trying to determine their next move. Phil , a native of New Orleans , LA. seemed like the perfect candidate to change the bands image. Phil's vocal style and physical presence gave the band the necessary missing link to move into a new area of music. The  songs, although a bit pop oriented at times, is much heavier than any of the prior three releases,  making this my favorite of the 4 earlier releases.

This release was also packaged with a selection of Pantera pins. Not impossible to find although it's a European only release. Features same artwork used for the CD single.

Comments	This 12" single, released in support of Far Beyond Driven, is a limited edition gatefold sleeve with red colored vinyl. I'm not sure if a non-gatefold version of this E.P. exists, although I suspect it does, as this is common practice to release the 12" and then re-release the same single in gatefold/ colored vinyl. The vinyl is a weird red color and the gatefold sleeve opens up to a picture of all 4 members with autographs and a message to their U.K. fans. "Thanks for all the support !! You Rule !! We'll  see you all next year !!"

The artwork used is similar to the artwork used for the remix CD  singles "Walk (Cervical)" and "Walk (Biomechnical)". The release also features 2 of the tracks recorded live in Moscow, 1991. Back cover features 4 cool shots of each band member along with a footnote for  the live tracks that states "Recorded Sept. 28 1991, live at Moscow Monsters Of Rock in front of a  crowd of 500,000. Definitely no overdubs!"..

Comments	This 12" single, released in support of Vulgar Display Of Power, is a limited edition gatefold 12"  featuring 2 of the remix versions of Walk and Fucking Hostile. The gatefold sleeve has half of Phils head on each side so when opened shows the complete photo. The inside has a weird lyric motif with the word "Unscarred" spray painted across the entire thing. Very cool ! This is the equivalent to    the (2) separate CD singles Part 1 and Part 2.

	Heresy Bootleg Picture Disc

Comments	This 12" Picture Disc is the only vinyl bootleg that exists. By 1990, when Pantera became a driving  force, the manufacturing of vinyl bootlegs was decreased by 95 % making way for the flood of Pantera  CD's that came out between 1992 and 1994. Vinyl is better than CD and I only hope vinyl returns with a  vengeance at some point. Great release. Side A contains the entire Foundations Forum 1990  performance and the B side states "Live in Stuttgart (Germany), "Schleyerhalle '91".
